چکیده

Two new diazotrophic bacteria, Listonella anguillarum and Vibrio campbellii, and one nonnitrogen-fixing bacterium, Staphylococcus sp., were isolated from the rhizosphere of mangrove trees. Strains of these newly-defined diazotrophs are known as pathogenic bacteria in fish and shellfish. During the purification of diazotrophic species from the entire rhizosphere population, N2 -fixation of the bacterial mixtures decreased. When grown in vitro in mixed cultures, the nonfixing bacterium Staphylococcus sp. increased the nitrogen-fixing capacity of L. anguillarum by 17% over the pure culture; the nitrogen-fixing capacity per bacterial cell increased 22%. This interaction was not due to a change in O2 concentration. Staphylococcus sp. decreased the nitrogen-fixing capacity of V. campbellii by 15%.

Isolation and identification of new beneficial bacterial strains from rhizosphere of Citrus sinensis orchards

The rhizosphere is the area around the root of a plant occupied by a unique population of usefulbacteria known as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). In this study, the isolation andidentification of rhizobacteria from orange (Citrus sinensis) orchards using 16S rRNA gene, as well asbiological and biochemical assays is reported. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene was confirmed bybiological and ...

Synergism between Phyllobacterium sp. (N(2)-fixer) and Bacillus licheniformis (P-solubilizer), both from a semiarid mangrove rhizosphere.

Mangrove seedlings were treated with a mixture of two bacterial species, the slow-growing, N(2)-fixing bacterium Phyllobacterium sp. and the fast-growing, phosphate-solubilizing bacterium Bacillus licheniformis, both isolated from the rhizosphere from black, white, and red mangroves of a semiarid zone. Nitrogen fixation and phosphate solubilization increased when the mixture was used compared t...

Isolation and Characterisation of Diazotrophic Bacteria from Rhizosphere of different Rice Cultivars of South Assam, India

Free living heterotrophic bacteria were isolated from the rhizosphere of 10 local and cultivated varieties of rice grown in Karimganj district of South Assam. Among the 25 isolates, 11 isolates withplant growth promoting activity were identified based on phenotypic and 16S rDNA sequence analysis. The strains were identified as Shingomonasa zotifigens, Pseudomonas putida, Stenotrophomonas maltop...

Isolation and characterization of plant growth-promoting bacteria from Syrian bean caper (Zygophyllum fabago) rhizosphere

Some rhizobacteria have positive effects on plants growth. Syrian bean-caper (Zygophyllum fabago) is a weed plant with medicinal value. This study was conducted to isolate and identify bacteria from Syrian bean-caper rhizosphere. Characteristics associated with plant growth stimulation, such as phosphate and zinc dissolution, production of Indole acetic acid and antifungal activity, were invest...
